and as usual, we have trouble stuffing all our luggages into our hotel rooms too..... but then again, to be fair to the hotel, i'd recommend it to budget conscious ppl who aren't neat freaks, given the more than ideal locations. (Thanx to rach, if not for your dutiful research, we wouldn;t get such a good deal!)

New York City (I)
We checked out of Hotel Harrington early in the morning and due to our heavy load, gotta take a cab to another street for our DC-NY coach. got a good deal. the bus tix costs us only usd20! i think greyhound or some other bus co was selling the tix at usd$30...
The 4- hours bus ride took us from DC to New York City! our bus captain is one hell of a hot sassy bus captain..... imagine a slim, black lady in fitting white shirt with tight and snug knee-length black skirt with long shiny and tinted straight hair.... you know, like the 'policewoman' in those ninja turtle nintendo games long time ago...... she speaks with character too, indeed a very sassy and special individual i've ever met.... we took a pix with her, but its with rachel, will show it next time.....
anyway, WELCOME TO NYC!
the moment the bus approaches the big city amidst all the vehicles and so on, we knew we are HERE! believe me, really really got a 'shock' here. there are oh-so-fucking many ppl here, for a while i needed time to adjust to it.
you see, we were cooped up in small town Sandusky where there probably as many yatches as the residents there (alright, i'm exaggerating a little...) and the only coloured skin ppl we saw (besides black ppl) were the same few of us, S'poreans, Thai, Taiwanese and the very few anti-social Koreans. ok fine, you may count in the kazakhs if u want...
and even in DC, it wasn;t so crowded too.... land was sparsely filled with ppl. then suddenly you alighted onto a big cosmopolitan city, overwhelmed by the number of ppl and shops around you. it takes time to adjust huh....
anyway, we took a cab to times sq, where our hotel, Hotel Carter, was located at. This is probably one of those really good deal hotel situated in a very very ideal location. Our hotel sits in the heart of NY Times Sq, minutes of walk to the broadway and all the great shops u can find. New York Times HQ is just across the road and a nice hotel, Westin, sits beside it.
well, given the cheap deal (usd$130 plus/night), and in such a good location, the tradeoff is the lousy room condition that spells a big 'LOUSY', the toilet door couldn't close shut and the toilet has broken tiles and a broken shower and tap that has to be handled with extra care unless u wanna get stucked with lather and foam half way through the shower haha. and the main door needs special handling to get it locked and so on........
First stop. Heart of Times Sq

there are so much hershey's pdt inside and most of which u can;t get in Singapore or even in other parts of US. They have their herhey's choc bar packaged in wrappers customised accrodingly to the diff states and also the world's largest choc bar which probably weighs in kgs. lots of other merchandise too, so interesting it takes a bit of time just browsing through...
tadah! the infamous Times Square!
you see billboards billboards of broadway shows alllllll ovvveeerrr!
financial news on the go...

& skyscrapers adorned in commercial ad skins
we caught a broadway show, Hairspray! well, heard its one of those acclaimed good shows that's been running for a few yrs now....

its a story abt a plump girl living up her dreams to become a teenage icon in the a-go-go time, then pursued by this cute teen hearthrobe...
anyway, i got my tix at abt usd54. ouch! but that's considered cheap, given that the original price of the tix was like usd100. we got our tix at half price at this place... this ticketing booth sits in the heart of the busy times sq junction and sells same day/last minute tix at up to half price.

in front of the broadway theatre...

roaming on the streets late night through throngs of ppl... even on a weekday night the place remains crowded, hustling and bustling...
colourful billboards...
