Lady Luck finally realised that she's been neglecting me for some time and has decided to make good for the un-lucky streak that has struck me since last nov....

today, i got a surprise phone call (prob name it the most unexpected call of the past year, 1st runner-up position clinched by the call from chris, way from the US)... actually i was a little shocked. the voice on the other side of the line and has an accent. i was thinking if it could be some recruitment consultant from one of those agencies i've registered with, informing me of a job opportunity. i was half right.

the caller is....... a caucasian brand manager from my internship company. not the brand manager whom I was attached to. she manages 2 other major consumer brands.

yeah, so she called and ask if i am working or still looking for a job. kinda sensed that something fabulous is coming my way, i answered with immense enthusiasm.... so she told me she looked through my profile and saw that i have good reccommendations and has decided to look me up as she needed help and she MIGHT be able to offer me a position as marketing assistant. well, sounds less glamorous than marketing exec or brand exec, but heck! its like a dream job for me to be doing brand management.... somemore its in this company, somewhere i believe many others would wanna be in.... yippppeeee!!!!!

but wait... the down side is that, after speaking to the HR, she was told she can only place me on a 3-mth contract for now (arghhhh...), but with a possibility of conversion to perm. i have no idea how high the chances of conversion would be. juz concerned that if i'm there juz to cover for the peak period for new pdt launches or for someone's maternity leave or what, then conversion chances wun be that high. but no matter what, its a good chance to learn and even if i won't be continuing then, i'll ask for a good reference.....

heehee.... from the initial discussion, she said i'll be helping out with 2 brands, be meeting her up tml to discuss abt it and maybe find out abt the pay, which i think would not be fantastic... somehow i have this bad omen that my pay would be below the average fresh grad pay..... shall find out...

anyway, the other day, i baked fruitcakes for my family, yep, extended family... baked like 4 of them....

oh yummy.... the mixed fruits are soaked in rum, so u get that delicious rum & raisin taste. if only i had time to soak them in rum for a longer time, think it'll taste even better... this kind of fruitcake is quite cheap if u buy it from confectionery or supermarkets, and getting ingredients to bake them can be even more expensive.... but baking them yourself means u can add rum in it enough to make u drunk (ok well, i din add all that much). as usual, i only had one slice of it despite baking 4 slabs of them. i tend not to eat much of the things i bake cos i know very well what massive amount of butter and other fats i use...and i get sick of them after having to watch them bake and rise and whatever. that hurts my appetite.....

speaking of rum, look at the latest addition of alcohol to the alcohol collection at home after my bkk trip... my family loves choya, i like it too.... taste darn good with green tea and can drink with vodka too!

i heard that absolut peach is the latest flavour (is that true?) and i suppose peach is a versatile flavour that complements many drinks... good add-on to the kurrant and raspberry ones that i have (my sis got the rasp one, if i were the one buying, i wouldn't have gotten it...)

got kahlua too!!! my goodness i got this btl of kahlua at ard S$25 at dfs and i saw that cold storage sells it for S$62 plus.... that's nearly 2.5 times more expensive.... taxes taxes..... got intro-ed to kahlua by mich in the US. but after i tried making my own drinks with this, i kinda regret getting it cos the light coffee liquer taste gets drowned by other ingredients very very easily... so the best is to have it neat and chilled...

as for the rum.... wierd choice for getting it... normally ppl chooses bacardi and i chose this brand... thought that bacardi is too common . got it as i wanted to make my own mai tai, which in the end i realised needs much more ingredients than expected. and whatever it is, i later realised that if i had wanted to get juz one kinda rum, i should have gotten light rum instead of the dark one... its more versatile..... as for my mai tai, wait till i find one day to find the simplest recipe and buy the stuff....

nah i'm not an alcoholic. normally juz take like 2 sips of the drinks i make and pass them to my siss... its no fun drinking at home anyway, juz making them for fun....
