I Flew....... with Ripcord

Nah, Ripcord ain't a new airline or what.... its a Skycoaster (derived from sky-roller coaster)! Its a 'ride' at Cedar Point's Challenge Park and i totally enjoyed it.......

its kinda like a bungee jump experience with a twist..... alright, i can't quite describe it any better than the info from the CP webbie....

'Flight-suited riders are tethered to a stainless steel aircraft cable and pulled upward from one of the ride's twin retractable launch pads to the top of an enormous 15-story launch tower. Once there, a designated flyer is instructed to pull the rip cord, sending the tethered group zooming down to within six feet above the ground below at speeds of up to an incredible 65 mph! Riders then complete their awesome journey by gliding through a 310-foot-long "zoom zone" before returning safely back to the launch pad. RipCord's high capacity double launch towers accommodate up to six riders per flight.'

i actually took this ride not once, not twice, but thrice! yep... well, i gave the ~virgin~ experience to wendy (my ex-roomie) & chee wah (hahaha.... my dad treated him teh on the day we departed for the US) the day before they left....... 2nd time was with mich & josh and the final time was with meverly & slovak cutie, martin...

all the rides were captured in dvds which are the merchandises the shrewd business-minded CP sell to the riders.....

well, a picture paints a thousand words..... then a video? maybe a million words..... too bad, i couldn't upload the videos but nvm, a cool function with the dvd thing allows me to capture shots from the video clip itself...... hahaha.... shall flood my blog with the pix!

josh, mich & me taking on the flight... mich's expression is funny....there's this really scared look on her face.... well, she's quite daring alright.... initially when she arrived at CP, she din dare to take on many of the 'big' rides.... its only towards the end of her stay there that she finally tried some.... and her she is taking on the ultimate challenge...*APPLAUSE*

We're bound together by this spacesuit then the 3 of us walked up to this platform that rose a distance above ground........ as we're all secured together the platform then lowered and we found ourselves hanging horizontally in mid air...

that was the 2nd time i was on ripcord, i sure knew where the video camera was... and the vainpot posed and posed......then we felt tugs from the cable holding us and got raised higher and higher....

as we're being raised, i looked at the surrounding view..... man, the scene is breathtaking..... the view in front was Lake Erie and Soak City..... but at the same time, i couldn't help but kept looking down below, thinking when the hell we're gonna stop going higher and higher.....

and then the tugging stopped.....my goodness, we're so high up and my heart was beating so hard that i feared suffering from a heart attack! mich was the 'pilot' then (well, i bo ji so i chose not to rip the cord....)

'Flyers ready? 3 - 2 - 1 Go!'

Tug! and off we go...... we experienced free fall for a split second before feeling a pulled by the cable.....

and off we went swinging left right centre and back.........

We swung in mid air for a couple of oscillations..... and did some kinda superman pose..... its totally awesome! the cool breeze brushed our faces as we enjoyed the scenery up there, namely the bikini babes and the cool dudes in trunks at soak city.....kekeke......

my third time on the ripcord was immediately after my 2nd try and i went with meverly and martin...

We rose higher and higher......

this will give u a rough idea how high up we were.... btw on the background is meanstreak, one of my fave roller coasters there, but sadly, only managed to tide on it once....boohooo.....

mev quite daring leh, she was pulling the cord as i chose to chicken out of the ripping part....

and we went plunging down at 65miles/hr....

so as the swinging gets weaker, we gotta catch and hold on to this blue grip thingy to help us come to a complete halt....

wow!!!! fun right? the price for this ride is like USD30 per person and if there're 2 flyers, its USD45 and if 3 flyers USD46.....something like that....can't really remember, the pricing strat is like the gmax thing at clarke quay.... but well, we got the tix for free....heehee..... and i oso won one tix during an employee games event.... and i didn't finish my tix cos apparently each tix allows 3 flyers to play at one go as in mich tix would allowed me and josh to ride and so on....

this is one of the fun things i tried there..... something really memorable.... i dun think i'd try bungee jumping still... i'm worried that i might juz die from heart attack at a tender age.... nah.... not for now.... but if someone dare me to do it with a ten thousand bucks, i might juz consider though....haha....
