CNY

Chinese New Year is approaching.... the eve's is like juz 3 days away... while cny is still the most anticipated festival for me today, it has long lost its GREAT appeal to me. when i was younger, i'll get all excited abt CNY, get to buy new clothings, get ang pows(red pckets with money inside *alright, know that i have a non-singaporean friend reading my blog, so trying to explain some terms....), meet up childhood friends & eat lotsa goodies like bak kwa (BBQ meat, yum yum...), yusheng (some kind of really nice chinese 'salad' keke...)

but dunno since when, cny becomes juz another festival where ppl gets holiday off and it becomes as bland as valentine's day (to me at least....) i din get any new clothes this year, prob juz wear some of the nice blouses i got in US... afterall who actually really cares if the clothes u're wearing are new or not... all u should care is whether u look good in them or not.

talking of new year goodies, i had to help make some delicious snacks for my family and relatives.... and we did something that's really simple..... cornflakes, yummy chocolate, almond and rainbow sprinkles!

spring's coming and flowers are blooming too!

my sis got me this nice tulip plant that she got from the supermarket... I LIKE TULIPS! they are one of my favourite flowers. i like flowers.... where else do u think my nick geraniumx come from?

and the flowers are blooming soon. we 'water' it with ice-cubes everyday. apparently they'll bloom faster this way since the tropical climate here isn't the most optimum environment for them.

let me make a guess, it'll reach full-bloom stage in around 2-3 days. can't wait, sis says the yellow flowers are really beautiful.

Some little decor in my room i'll like to share.....

i've put up the car plates i've collected from different places.... was aiming to get one from each and every places i went to but apparently didn't manage to get some ie. washington d.c (din see any, that place is so decent! and i wish i have one with san francisco and not juz california, well, the san fran one i saw wasn't quite nice i think. and i could have made do with those indiana, michigan, ohio ones as well huh...). blah.... these stuff ain't cheap, each costs an average of usd8 plus..... cheapest here is the the rock hall car plate frame that costs only usd 4.99. got them in from the beautiful cleveland rock and roll hall of fame.....

(ok fine, i've never stepped onto the rocks of grand canyon but heck, i was real near - in las vegas. had planned to drive there from LV but realised LV was sooooo beautiful we had to spend more time exploring the place, thus giving up GC... bleh, i got it anyway.... afterall it used to be one of those places i wanted to visit...)

the most expensive one is this personalised one that's stuck on my bedroom door... 'Gera's Blvd'. why boulevard? i think i got inspired by greenday's 'blvd of broken dreams'. made in las vegas and costs ard usd 15 and nearly 2 hours of precious waiting time... the spot the hibiscus occupied was originally a black silhouette of elvis presley but nah.... dun quite like him so had him stripped off the design...

seen together with all the name tags from the past hall orientations and other events....

will sure collect more of this stuff if i see them again. well maybe u can consider getting me one when u travel to the US?? wahaha....

btw....

konrad, ai lin's polish colleague at CP, is coming to singapore like 2 days later... since i'm kinda free, i'll prob help her pick him up if she has to work... i've seen him a couple of times before cos we used to hold parties at my apartment at bayside and she'll always invite the polish pals over for some singaporean cuisine..... remember there was once they reciprocated by preparing a national dish (it tasted like masala thosai.....minus the curry and yoghurt gravy). guess if i were to pick him up at the airport, i shud have no problem recognising him......

now i wish for friday to come soon. some little decisions to be made then and i'm looking forward to it....

U say there is not new yr mood but there seems to be more cheer at ur side than mine!

U got all the flower stuff, the cookies and the deco.

I feel the mood, but I have not decorated my rm.

Wanna make t trip to Chinatown to soak in all the festive cheer and buy foodstuffs!

ah ha.... go easy on new year goodies.... they are lethal....

can feel myself getting feverish from all the pre-cny goodies indulgence.

and like i said, beware of all the dirty old men there....hahha
